    Last month I delivered a seminar on internet marketing to a group of about 40 or 50 independent retailers. Whilst discussing mobile commerce I asked them how many of them had used QR codes in their marketing and no hands went up.     September’s issue of.net featured an article by Luke Wroblewski, arguing that web products should be designed for mobiles before desktops. His justification is that mobiles are growing massively and that they help focus readers. According to Morgan Stanley Research, mobile internet adoption is outpacing the growth of desktop internet adoption.     The use of smart phones for local search and social networking grew significantly in Q1 this year: Research carried out by the Compete Smartphone Intelligence Survey showed we are becoming increasingly reliant on mobile phones to look for local businesses.  Nearly 1 in 3 people have called or visited a store after using their phone to find it.  The research also found that a third of Android and iPhone owners found at least 2 new businesses that they weren’t aware of before.
