Marketing to smart phone users is smart marketing

The use of smart phones for local search and social networking grew significantly in Q1 this year: Research carried out by the Compete Smartphone Intelligence Survey showed we are becoming increasingly reliant on mobile phones to look for local businesses. Nearly 1 in 3 people have called or visited a store after using their phone to find it. The research also found that a third of Android and iPhone owners found at least 2 new businesses that they weren’t aware of before. Read More

QR Code? What's that?

Last month I delivered a seminar on internet marketing to a group of about 40 or 50 independent retailers. Whilst discussing mobile commerce I asked them how many of them had used QR codes in their marketing and no hands went up. So I then reversed my thinking and asked how many of them knew what a QR code was. Less than half of them did. I was a bit surprised but then again maybe I shouldn't have been. Read More
