The Rules of the Word

I just finished reading a great article by Eric Anderson, VP of Marketing for White Horse. He called it The 10 Commandments of Content Marketing, and draws attention to content’s boldness, longevity, and measurability amongst other things.

“As an industry we’re stuck in outdated categories” he says. “We still think advertising is advertising and social media is something else. In fact, advertising and social media are the same thing, they’re content.”

Anderson eloquently delivers the message that today, with the progression of marketing, content can spread so much further than it ever could before. And if content can go everywhere then we marketers must ensure that it does, which means blogging, tweeting, reviewing and facebooking.

Moreover, our content should engage its readers and use their ideas- as evidently they’re often better then ours! (Doritos Super Bowl ads) Furthermore, it should invite comment, including criticism, because we can only learn from our mistakes.

Whether you’re a copywriter or not this article is definitely worth a read.
